Damn Car Wont Start!
Okay basically car has been running for the past coulpe of weeks. After swap. 2 CEL's #8 TDC and #41 O2.
1998 B18B into 1997 Civic EX
So my friend removed the Dizzy(OBD1 wired to OBD2a) just to make sure the wiring was correct. Everything seemed good. We place Dizzy back in and all of a sudden the car wont start. It cranks but doesnt fire. We checked for spark and its there. I tried a second dizzy that my friend had. Still nothing. I can hear fuel pump prime. Checked grounds. Checked fuses. I dont even know what the hell it could be. I even used starter fluid. Nothing. It just keeps cranking. Starter isnt bad because it keeps cranking. I dont know what to do and I need my car back by Saturday I am to pick up my girl from school in West Virginia. Man please help Honda Tech im stumped on this one.

Well id have to be there to tell you what your problem is, but eliminate the following cause this is what you need for your engine to start... air, fuel, compresion and spark, check it in that order eliminate all possibilitys and youll find out whats wrong

wat do u mean ear. I thought the dizzy can only go in one way. Air its suckin good air the Intake is breathing, the fuel pump is priming and the fuel pressure regulator is returning fuel, compressin is flat across the board. there is spark from the cap to the wires. its hard to see the spark from the wires to the plugs though or towards any other metal. I really think its the dizzy, its the only thing i touched ya kno.

you really need to put the dizzy in the correct way the ear most face a certain way or the car wont start. Turn it one way and if it dont start flip it 180 degrees and try again.

dizzy is distributor. on the crank pulley? my distributor is OBD1 and its is correctly wired. It was working for about 3 weeks and I was throwing the TDC code so my friend removed the Dizzy looked at the wiring thinking i messed up and everything was fine. I put it back on and the car wont start.

Sounds like your wiring might be off. If you are using an obd2(a) harness and an obd1 dizzy then that means it was wired in to fit. I had a problem when the wiring cracked and I had to rewire. Make sure that **** is done tight.

Re: (StreetRacinThug)
the dizzy can only go on one way for one thing , one ear is bigger than the other. cant be 180 off. if your getting a TDC code before it stopped running than that could very well be the problem as long as all the wiring is correct. the car needs to TDC sensor to run. how did the car run before this? sound like timing was off , sputter ?
your crank pully has 4 marks on it , one white by itself(TDC) , and 3 red an inch before the white one. when setting TDC , make sure the white mark is pointing at the pointer on the timing cover is in the groove lower down when looking straight down on it. with that mark lined up , your cam wheels should have the arrows pointing straight up , and little dashes pointing at each other in the middle. the red marks are for timing the engine. when fully warmed up , and 2 pin connector crossed to stop the ECU from real time adjusting it , the timing light should flash when the middle of the 3 red timing marks is aligned at the pointer while looking at it same way , straight down. remember to always turn the engine over counterclock when turning it by hand.

have you checked your timing belt?? is it skipping a tooth or is there a tooth missing from the belt? see how tight your belt is each time you turn your engine over.

So when I do this should I have the distributor on or off? Then I have to take the top part of the timing cover off correct. afterwards I have to adjust the crank pully with a socket extension and ratchet correct. (What size socket) Turn it counter clockwise? until the white mark is lined up with a pointer on the timing cover? at this point my cams should be point straight up and little dasher next to each other. If it is set like this it is at TDC? then the dizzy should only fit on way?
