How to identify B-series alternator?
I'm trying to figure out which type of alternator I have on my b16a3 94' del sol VTEC.
I found a stepper pulley for a JRSC kit but it says it only fits on the 'mistubishi' alternator and I need to identify which alt I currently have.

Re: How to identify B-series alternator?
there will be a sticker on the case of the ALT to ID it
the reason is the shaft on the other type's are smaller
Diameter than the 'mistubishi'

So mitsubas have a larger diameter shaft. That makes sense.
I will inspect my alt once I get back in the shop and look for a sticker.
unfortunately it was rebuilt and the shop removed stickers and painted it and put their own sticker on it etc I believe.
anyways thanks for the answer peeps.

Every B-series alternator I recall seeing was a Denso. Post a pic of the back of (where the 4 wire plug is) and I can tell you what it is.
Btw, the Mitsubishi alternators were junk, the Denso is what you want.

Good to know. Are we sure they are mitsubishi, I thought it was mitsuba?
If i can't dig an alt pic out of my 1.4k build picture album I'll try to snap one tomorrow.
if autospecialties can make me a custom stepper alt pulley for my setup I won't need to identify my alt and this question will be irrelevant but thanks for the help guys.
in the words of many ppl who have jrsc a b-series in an EF chassis 'HAVE YOUR ALT REBUILT PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE SUPERCHARGER, EVEN IF IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE REBUILT. taking the alt in and out requires about 12 hours of work to remove the blower and bring the alt out the top of the engine bay.'

If you can get one from a Mitsubishi just have a bushing turned to make it fit.

Re: How to identify B-series alternator?
I called asp and they are going to custom make me the alt stepper pulley I need for my JRSC setup with a four week turnaround time.
I no longer need to identify my alternator because they can make me a pulley that will fit the alt I have.
Thanks for your help everyone in this thread.
if anyone reading this is doing the same thing, talk to 'lee' (877) 928-8678 it's about 120+shipping for a stepper pulley and it can be made to custom spec for more money. Currently it's 14% stepper increase.
