HOOD KILLIN WASTEGATE!!
Ive got a 92 si, LS Vtech turbo. The turbo kit was from drag. My problem is that my wastegate has put a big dent in my hood because of its mounting height. I tried a search that weilded no results so if any of you guys have experienced this problem and have some insight, I would appreciate any help you could give.

Have someone weld a 90 elbow onto your manifold so you can put the wastegate sideways and it won't hit anymore.
I had to do this on one setup before.

Its vtec....
Fab up a new spot for the wg to go.
You wouldnt have the dent if you didnt slam down your hood the first time it was installed, though

the dent wasnt there the first time I shut my hood. Whats happening is the motor is moving up enough to make the wastegate hid the bottom of the hood. I know what the fix for that will be (mounts &/or inserts,... ordering as we speak). I also already figured someone would suggest the 90 degree elbow. I was hoping someone would have an idea on maybe putting some sort of hood scoop on to clear the wg. I would like to put a cf hood on but I think it would be to much trouble working all of the resin for more fiber in to the hood. If I dont get any more ideas in the next couple of days Im gonna weld a scoop off of an eclipse on to my hood and then cut out the bottom. I think that will be trick! It will also be a little easier for me to do than the elbow.
What u guys think??
Sorry about the type-O vtec vtech vtecc vteck vee tek

Re: (allanonjj)
honestly, the 90 elbow is your best bet. Any muffler shop could do it or just buy a buddy a 6 pack and have him weld (if you know anyone)
I don't wanna get in an argument but IMHO the hood scoop would be gay as ****. Even a c/f hood is gonna hit.
another suggestion is energy suspension motor mount inserts, these will help with the bucking of the engine back and forth. In my original setup, my wastegate was only about a half inch away from my hood and it didn't hit at all.

Just buy an elbow that relocates the wastegate sideways... that would be your cheapest solution unless you can weld one on there yourself.

give ben@importparts.com a hollar he will be able to help you. i had the same issue with my deltagate, and when i switched to the tial with an elec. boost controller, it got worse. the 90 is the way to go.

So fabbing up a complete new hood is easier than just bolting an elbow onto the manifold?
I guess our definition of easy is pretty different then.

Naw, jack the engine up even more and slam to hood to get the dent big enough so it will clear under normal driving. Because anybody who knows anything about turbo civics will see your hood and go "oh yeah".

That's pretty much the idea. You have to throw the idea out there and see if any takes.

Re: HOOD KILLIN WASTEGATE!! (EgRedSi)
the drag kits come with the delta creep. switch out the delta creep for a tial or turbonetics evolution wastegate and it wont rub. my deltacreep on my drag kit/ls/vtec hit the hood too. switched it out and bueno. plus no boost creep. the deltagate sucks anyway.

Man,.... You guys are brutal!!! The reason why the hood wouldve been easier is bc I work @ a car dealership,... weve got guys that come around and do different services for our used cars like..... clearing dingy looking headlights,.... or.... sprucing up the leather, vinyl,.... well one of the guys specializes in quik paint and body work and just so happens he owes me a favor so, the ("gay") scoop idea was gonna be my easiest fix (as long as it wasnt cf). I guess its a good thing that you guys flamed on me so bad cause Id rather get it now than Fri night @ the track.
Aight then, where is the best place to get a tial wastegate?? fast shipping and cheapest price??

Check the sponsors marketplace on here.
And if you're worried about going to the track, just pop the hood off if they'll let you run hoodless.
