Honda Recall
as some of you civic owners may know, honda is currently having a recall on 96+civics, crv's, and odysseys. if honda knows that you own the car( if oyu bought it from them), then you should have or wil lrecieve something in the mail. the recall is in concern with the electrical system in the igintion system. if you do not know if your car is in the honda owners registry ( or if you bought your car from another dealership or even a pivate owner) you call 1-800-999-1009 and just provide them with your VIN# and they should add you to the directory. if you call your local honda dealership and give them your VIN#, they will be able to let you know if your car(s) are affected in the recall. good luck to you all if your car is recalled.

Supposedly the ignition switch can fail, shutting the car down randomly - losing power steering and brakes at 70mph is no good.
My 98 LX got the recall, but not the 99 DX. I have an appointment tomorrow, and will post details of what was replaced.

My sisters 97 acura cl does this. I think its damn funny when it does happen though. Its like "Suprise!!!! engine dies, no power steering, and no hydaulic brakes." She still hasnt brought it in to get the new ignition either, cause shes lazy.

Just got back from having ignition switch replaced. Took about 30-40 minutes. Perhaps the recall is bullshit, but I'd rather not risk losing power brakes and steering going 70mph.
By the way, not all 98-99 Civics are affected - you can call your dealership and they will verify it by VIN. My 99 did not have a defective part.
