High mileage civic. Worth building?

High mileage civic. Worth building?
Okay well i picked up a 99 coupe (ej8) a few months ago. The thought about swapping it crossed my mind a few times upon buying it. I've had it for sometime now, and a complete dc5 swap is what i plan on starting. Ground Control coilovers and koni shocks should be here anyday now. My first move is suspension and the body, I'm repainting the whole car. The car has 165000 on it. It started in California, then made its way to Florida, then to Jersey, and finally ended up in my driveway in New York.. The 7th owner :/. The body is in great condition , no accidents, some minor dents and dings here and there, but NO RUST. I'm simply wondering if this car (with it's history) is worth the time and effort im about to put into it. (8000$+ build) Btw this will be my first swap. Iv'e been in HVAC for 3 years now, so atleast im not going into this totally ignorant :/

165k miles isn't really high mileage. Especially since you're pulling out the engine anyway. My EM1 has 164k. Solid as a rock. Has an ITR swap (nothing was wrong at all with the old engine at 150k. Just wanted more power and the swap was basically free). Konis and stock springs. Has been tracked, has had much stiffer springs. No issues. It's my GF's daily driver now.

165k isn't high, I've 206+k here, and she's purrs like a kitten
Being as you want to pull the motor anyways, that really doesn't matter. Body, and No rust mater!
I've got about 7-8k into mine, it goes quick, so be ready!
Good luck, and yes, I'd do it. But do research before you buy! A good bit of the money I am have in mine was in uneducated purchases.

If you're going to be rebuilding the engine or swapping, and the body is in great shape, then absolutely go for it. Even if there is some minor rust, it's easily taken care of. Ive got 220,000 km on my EJ6 and it still looks and feels new. Engine still purring nicely too. Routine and preventative maintenance goes a long way.

That's not high mileage, I have 235,xxx miles on my 99 EJ6 and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross country, I just made a 2000 mile round trip to San Diego without any issues. Especially if you're thinking of a swap, go for it.
