Default high-flo cat

Is there any advantage to them, and are they worth buying?

Not unless you have a serious breather.....i.e. FI or 10,000 RPM. Most current Cats are very close to a Freeflowing cat. 2-3 whp diff.

However, a strait pipe is a different story.

As spade said they are not really worth it. Don't consider gutting it either, I know you didn't mention it, but it can cause serious back-pressure and back firing. Leading to a flooded engine. Rarely happens, however it still isn't worth it...

Test pipe - if you never have to take emissions...

High flow cat gained me 5hp at the top. They definately work. (BTW, I'm using a 3" universal cat, not just a bolt on high flow)

if u really want freeflowing..go straight pipe..same results..but, ull need to be running 4k or more all the time cuz u wont have torque to work with...mine, i fried it after a couple of months..we to a standard aftermarket cat. and never have had problems with it

Forget a cat, unless you have to get emissions tests run a straight pipe!!!
If you have to run a cat then get nothing less than a CarSound Cat! They rock!

B pipe is the same as a mid pipe, it runs between the cat and the muffler. A test pipe is a straight pipe used to replace the cat!

yeah....I argued with a tech guy about my so called "cat" that was throwing a code(I tried to tell him it was designed wrong and that it wasn't made like a stock cat)
well turns out....5 months later, they are selling the same exact "hi-flow cat" as a "test pipe".....what a bunch of lame Fawkers!!

I was so right.....I just found this out too! I should call him and tell me "told you so"
