HELP! steering problem/alignment
i've done a search but no luck, i thought about posting this in the suspension section but that area doesnt seem to have many browsers so im trying my luck here....here's my problem
my car is pretty slam its about a 2.5-3" drop
lately when i've been driving my steering would jerk in certain areas on certain roads. WHen i say jerk i mean it would pull really hard to the left and right and i would have to countersteer it just a little. Im not sure whats going on here?I've heard that it could be my tires reacting to uneven roads??
I do have a camber kit and i had my car aligned just a few months ago....This raises my second question: my tires still wore in the inside but it's only the front driver side tire that wears out, ive rotated the tires front to back but that same location the tire still wore down>? can anyone help with suggestion i dont want to go in for another alignment because i was just there a few months ago and i know for sure i didnt hit no pothole or curbcheck t hem...CAAN ANYONE HELP

Re: HELP! steering problem/alignment (anothA civC)
when your wheel jerks left or right, it's called bumpsteer. it happens to most lowered cars and it gets worse the lower you go. it's a common thing.
as for the tire wear, i would get a second opinion on your alignment. take your car to someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to lowered cars.

You might also have a loose or bent suspension component. Did you hit any potholes? Was everything torqued down to spec?
Do the tires grab on uneven pavement at the seem, or does your car seem to float and bounce around over rapid bumps? The latter is caused by blown struts or by riding on your bump stops from too much drop and not enough travel. But the previous symptom has been prevalent on every car with modified suspension and wheel upgrades that I have ever driven.

Re: HELP! steering problem/alignment (shaundrake)
overinflation might also be a cause. this is because less tire area that contacts the road, so tires doesn't have enough grip. thus making steering really light/floaty

Re: HELP! steering problem/alignment (anothA civC)
yeah I get the same feeling since I had my car aligned. I installed new tires at the same time tho so it could be the tires?? I'm running 195/60-14 Azenis. Here are my alignment numbers:
Left Front:
Camber -1*
Caster 1.5*
Toe 0.05*
Right Front:
Camber -1.4*
Caster 1.0*
Toe 0.06*
Total Toe 0.10*
Left Rear:
Camber -2.1*
Toe 0.12*
Right Rear:
Camber -1.9*
Toe 0.09*
Total Rear Toe: 0.21*
Rear Thrust Angle: 0.01*
Are these settings any good? Should the toe be set any different? Should I try less tire pressure? It seems like initial turn-in is pretty quick, but the steering doesn't snap back straight as fast when you let off of the wheel.
Thanks,
Steve
