Default help with srs is 98 civic

So i replaced my steering wheel a little while ago but i put it on crooked and just now went back to put in on straight,
i unhooked the batt and air bag and, put the wheel back on and drove it for a minute without the airbag in,
now after everything has been put back togher and hooked up my srs light wont shut off.

i have unhooked the battery several times, did noithing, unhooked it and hooked it back up still noithing, pulled both fuses under my dash, fuel pump/srs and srs turned the car back on and the damn light is still there,

i really need help, is there something i forgot to do? or screwed up? anyhelp is greatly appreciated

You're probably not going to like hearing this. If resetting the SRS doesn't work, you probably broke the clockspring (cable reel). The wires are easy to break when removing and replacing a steering wheel. Breaking a wire will cause the SRS light to come on and most likely will break your horn. Does your horn work?

I did the very same thing and ended up having to get a new clockspring from Honda to fix the problem.

well the light goes off like it says, but when i unplug it, it comes back on and wont go away after i replug it in, i talked to my dad and he said because im using a paper clip it could be grounding out or something, so im going to try at it again in the morning after i get out of class.

yes the horn works, i actully didnt pull the wheel totaly off this time, all i did was pop it from the splines holding it and move it... so im not totaly worried about the clock spring breaking. i have pulled the bag and wheel several times, and this is the first time i drove it without it on.... how much did it end up costing you??

thank you so much for the help!!
anyone else have a idea? im going to try what Ron posted again, if that doesnt work im going to call my dads friend who works on cars and see what he thinks.
