Default Help with sohc COOLING problem?

I recently swapped out my y7 IM for a Z6. Would that affect my engine temp.? It didnt start having cooling problems for a month or two after the surgery. Also, it has been a while since my last oil change........I know, I know I am a bad owner.

I don't have any idle problems so I seem to think that my Gasket is ok.......what else could be happening?

Any insight or educated guesses would be greatly apreciated........Car is 96' hatch With aftermarket intake and running straight pipe.

thanks in advance,

lol give it more than 20 minutes for an answer. didnt even leave the first page.

First what are the symptoms?
Is your fan turning on?
Is your heater still blowing out Hott Air?

Also you might want to check for the following
Make sure there is no air in the cooling system
Check to see if the thermostat is sticking

lol.....yeah I got a little impatient there didn't I

Thanks for your help here are the symptoms:

when I turn fan on it blows hot......I did get in a wreck not too long ago before the swap and the ac/no longer blows cold........so maybe that has something to do with it.

How do I check to see if thermostat is sticking?

I'm not sure if the fan is working properly....at times it seems like it doesn't kick on????

Also, My radiator is going through a ton of coolant/water......and when I fill it up sometimes there is a white froth. ??? this could be affecting the cooling?

Do you think that there is anything wrong with the actual IM gasket? I assume it is ok because there are no vacuum leaks.....but I don't really know much to say.

thanks

You can pull out the thermomstat, hold it in a pot of boiling water. When the temp of the water reaches 190, you should see the thermostat pop open. I'd only bother doing if you can see signs of the thermostat sticking on the shaft. It's pretty apparant, you can't miss it.

Have you done any kind of modification to the fan/rad assembly since your accident?

O.k. heres the deal........I think it might have something to do with the wiring to the fan......because it seems like the fan is not turning on all the time when it heats up......or it is on/off intermitantly. Very annoying....I hate electrical problems. I have the same thing happening with my a/c.......fuse keeps blowing for the compressor.

I had a problem with my d15b7 overheating, one day a radiator hose blew apart and I realized what was wrong. Changed all the hoses I could get to, and installed a force flush system. It runs a lot cooler now, so mine was overheating just from being dirty.

hmmm.....don't think that is whats going on but you never know.

The thing is when it starts to overheat.....it usually goes up, stays just 3/4 of the way up and then suddenly comes back down........it will do this a few times before it goes all the way up.

I would think thermostat sticking, but that wouldn't really explain why the radiator fluid is low.????
