Help!! my temp Gauge goes all the way down when Vtec is on...
I just put a new thermostat on my H22 and I took the car for a test drive. Everything seems fine exept my Vtec. The car warms up fine and the fan kicks on but when It hits Vtec the Temp. Gauge goes to cold, and if I stay on Vtec it will go al the way down to cold and Vtec stops working, I let off and drive under 5600rpm without Vtec and the temp, goes back to normal. Again, Vtec works fine until the temp goes all the way down, and when It's on it makes the temp gauge go down... I checked ground wires and plugs and everything seems fine. Any Ideas?? Thanks in advance

It's a good thing that you didn't reattach that ground wire at the T-stat housing??

Heres my setup
1994 LS

gsr head
jdm vtec solenoid
p28 auto jumped to manual
I have A4 to my vtec solenoid and D6 grounded
Vtec works fine, tenp gauge reads line below half. When Vtec kicks in my temp. gauge goes down.

if the temp gauge goes all the way down it seeing 5 volts or more.
If your ground on the thermostat housing isn't good, when you hit VTEC it will backfeed on that ground and cause this.
Run a seperate ground wire from that collection of wires to the battery terminal and see if it fixes it. It doesn't have to be a huge wire.

Re: (89civicsinKC)
Nope not the grounds. There is continuity between the neg. battery post and the vtec solenoid and the ground at the thermostat. Only a 1 ohm difference in grounds. Other people told me it could be my thermostat.
I'll try replacing it with an OEM one. THANKS GUYS.
