ok.. i was on the highway coming from FAU.. i just got a new motor put in so i wanted to see what i topped out at.. i found out that it was a whopping 87 mph..

after getting off the highway i was driving for a bit and noticed my temp gauge was almost on H.. i pulled over and popped the hood.. no weird noises were being made but i did see A LITTLE bit of smoke, so i was like w/e and got back in and drove off

about 10 minutes later, when i got home i noticed some weird hissing sound that was kinda loud.. i popped the hood and the hissing sound was REALLY REALLY loud and there was a little bit of smoke it was coming from the intake manifold area.. does anyone know whats wrong?? blown head gasket maybe?? is my motor screwed cuz of this?? i just got it put in 6 days ago..

OMFG thats 2 in like 3 weeks.. is there any way to not blow a head gasket?? i dont even drive my car hard...

if you keep overheating your motor, it will warp something, head, block, whatever, and a new gasket wont seal right, and it will just keep happening

buy a failsafe thermostat along with a new head gasket, and when you put the head back on and connect the raidiator, burp your radiator hoses by squeezing the top hose s so theres no air in the line, you can also do it the same way and turn over the motor but dont start it so the water pump can help you with the process when you burp the lines

it would also be smart to check your valve cover gasket and make sure that it is still good

That's probably b/c ur not sending the head out to a machine shop to get milled and u keep throwing a new headgasket on and the head's warped so w/o milling it'll keep on blowing.

aww damnit send my head to get milled... how much would that cost?? i have $3 to my name and my check tomorrow is only gona be like 350.. this sucks ***!!!!

use some steel wool to remove the old gasket if it breaks in pieces and some light grade sandpaper to smooth it out, you can do it your self as a cost effective procedure, its how i do it

Easy there, cowboy. I just dont think his problem is little pieces of old gasket. Surely if he has the know how to do a head gasket, then he knows to get the old one off first.

There's a high probability that his head is warped, that's why he's blowing head gasket's left and right - it's not sealing properly and there's too much pressure on one side creating the blow out. It's the same thing that happens if you do the incorrect procedure of torquing the head down.

As far as pricing.

It shouldn't be higher than 200-250 bucks. Not to mention with the commonality of Honda motors I'm sure it's cheap. Not like a V type motor or a pancake where you have to mill down 2 heads.

Call your local machine shop 'n ask. Just ask 'em the price to get your head milled and what type of engine it is. Tell 'em you just need it milled even so you can seat it on a new headgasket.

A lot of hostility in this thread....I would say you're deffinitely going to have to get it machined. Especially if you've blown that many gaskets so quickly. Also, once you get it back you may want to take it easy on the car for a little bit until everything gets seated and sealed instead of "toppnig it out" a few days after you put it in.

If your talking about a d16 engine I wouldn't even bother doing any machiene work to it, I bet you could find a whole head that works for $100.
