Help with Idle problem
Hello all,
I need some help with a problem in a 1996 civic ex 1.6SOHC V-TEC. I am generally a BMW guy and don't know a ton about these Hondas so please bear with me.
The original engine threw a rod and I got a replacement engine and installed it. My problem is that I cannot get it to idle below about 1200 rpms.
I have a Haynes book and followed the procedures but even turning the idle adjustment screw all the way does not do it. I can't really get the timing correct until I get the Idle set. Othwer than that the car seems to run great. It does hunt for idle after running down the road and stopping for a light or something. It sort of acts like an air leak and the O2 sensor is adjusting to compensate. the replacement engine came from an automatic and this car is a 5 speed so I had top swap the intake manifold from the bad engine to the replacement. the idle valves are different. Any Ideas??

Re: Help with Idle problem (bimmerboodle)
make sure you dont have an intake manifold vacuum leak. spray some carb cleaner around the intake runners and see if the idle changes. and go from there.

One thing to check out, however generally when this happens, you will have a jumpy idle, not high.
