Help in choosing the correct gear ratio for 1/4 mile..
Hi,everyone.well i have a civic sedan year 97 with a b16a2 engine and i am preparing my car for 1/4 mile drag. Here is the list parts i have but not yet installed as some parts not yet ordered:
Engine:
Buddyclub camshafts stage 4
Buddyclub cam gears
Buddyclub dual valve springs and retainers
High compression 11.5:1 wiseco pistons 81mm
ECU chipped by xenocron redline 8800-9000 rpm.
Gearbox:
F1 racing stage 2 clutch kit
F1 racing 9.5 lbs flywheel
Mfactory Helical LSD
Mfactory 4.923 final drive
Mfactory gears ratio unknown...
So i would like to know what gear ratio will be better for my setup in 1/4 mile?Do i need to change all the gears or only a few?I hope you can help me in choosing the correct gears,i.e the most advantageous?Thank you.

Sounds like you are off to a good start with that 4.9 FD , What transmission do you have now ? is it a B16a2 tranny or you dont have anything and wanting to build it right now.
If you have a b16 transmission (stock gear rations ) with that 4.9 FD , give that a few passes and see how it goes with your power band.

dont waste your time with ebay stage 2 clutches. They are ****. If you are racing you need a 6 puck. You should be able to leave your gears as they are. Although I am not sure exactly how short they will be with a 4.9FD.

yea a 4.9FD is already going to have super short gears. But I was just saying that Ebay Stage 2's are not good for racing. I just had one with a Stage 4 pressure plate and it couldnt hold my power. Now I have a stage 4 pressure plate with a ACT Ceramic 6 puck.

If you dont want to blow all your money you can go with an ebay stage 4 or stage 3. They are atleast decent. And when the disk goes you can replace it with a ACT or Competition Clutch Disk. Just make sure your 6 puck is a ceramic disk and not a steel one. Because Originally I had a competition clutch Iron man stage 4, and that clutch was beyond insane. It was a steel 6 puck disk that gripped so hard the car would shake even if I dropped the clutch at like 3k lol.

Do some research on clutches(i.e. some reviews). I've heard, and had good personal experience with a variety of clutches(exedy, f1, stock). Hell, I put 250 to the wheels on a stock clutch. It lasted for 6 months or so. Not to recant on "jimster480", I've just heard mixed reviews about the ACT stuff. Never ran one; although, I am running an F1 6 puck stage 3 and it works great. I have a boosted b16. I'm only around 248whp right now though. I will soon go to a little over 3.

if u wear it all the way down it will damage the flywheel because the rivets will come in contact with the flywheel.
