Help! CEL Code 17... VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)
Ok guys Ive got a dilemma on my hand which I though I fixed the other day, turns out I didn't. Quick run down...
I got a JDM Sir gauge cluster and put it in my car, drove around for about 3 days no problems whatsoever. Then on the 4th day the CEL came on and I thought maybe it was the cluster, so I put the stock CX one in and still gave me a CEL. I noticed that the CEL only comes on when the car is at normal temp, and when it comes on vtec doesn't work. So I checked the CEL and it was a code 17, VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). I thought it was kinda weird since my speedo and tach were both working fine, only thing that wouldn't work was vtec. So I got a new VSS from Honda, put it in and drove around for half the day... Then it started all over again, CEL comes on now just like it used to... Still the same, code 17!!
Im out of ideas on what to check or what to look for, any help would be greatly appreciated guys!! Thanks in advance!

Check the VSS fuse as well. The stupid thing about the VSS fuse is that its also the fuse for the alt and O2 sensors. So what I'm saying is, check those things out for shorts in the system. When I changed my header, i had to re-route the 2nd 02 sensor. It was fine for a day, but then my VSS fuse kept going out, and I knew this cuz my speedo would stop working. Anyways, I found a short in the 2nd O2 sensor cuz it was touching the cat which was causing a short cuz it melted off the rubber coating on the wire. I fixed that and now its good

Re: Help! CEL Code 17... VSS (EG6GRPNHRD)
SOLVED... Prob was that I had a Apexi Rev/Spd meter before the JDM cluster so I would have a tach... So when I installed the JDM cluster I just unplugged the Apexi wiring and left it hooked up to the ECU. By me doing this it left one crucial wire not connected to anything... The VSS wire, so all i had to do is plug the Apexi Rev/Spd meter back in to connect the circuit for now... Thanks to everyone who helped me with this!!
