help bring my compression back.
b18c1
standard block rebuild
standard rings and clock on piston the way they should be.
hone sleeves
etc,
no work done to cylinder head
could valve adjustments bring my comp numbers up. I did new rings and hone on the block but nothing to the head.. My results on a warm engine @ wot no fuel 185psi. WTF.
anything would help

You need to check your timing and adjust those valves 270 is the highest i just did my b16 and the highest was 225 and lowest was about 200 im gonna do a write up in the moring on it and i have pics but theres defintly something off on your setup.

Re: help bring my compression back. (slvrcvc93)
when i turned the motor on I did notice the belt seemed a bit lose but not lose enough to jump, could i lose comp due to this . Im getting like 185 across the board.
could it be that the motor is not broken into yet? I really havent even had the car on for a hour yet. also could i be losing compression due to valve lash?
I was kind of looking for 200+ psi. Im pretty pissed and losing my motivation.
thanks

Re: (EkFG)
Definitely could be bad valve lash or off timing because the cylinder is not building enough pressure on overlap.
Also remember a compression test must be done after the engine is warmed up and all the spark plugs removed.

Re: (slvrcvc93)
gonna have to check that them. I took the car out for a drive and i notice a bit of smoke coming from th exhaust not black but a white/kind of bluish..damn i would say that the car over all might have about one hour of time on it. the car only smokes when revved.
and i got the block checked with crank and install all new bearings and piston rings.
damn...........wondering if i might just need to burn all the assembly lube and lube on the top of the pistons and wall or if i might have a cylinder head problem. hummmm leakdown test i guess. Its just soo aggravating cause i wanna cruise, lol.
does snap on or maco have a leak down tester otherwise could i make one?
thanks in Advance

o damn man thats youre problem, the motor isnt broken in yet. go rip on it in the hills for a couple hundred miles and then check your compression.
of course its going to be low with an hour of run time on it

come one man you conplaining about 185. right before i rebuilt my motor i had 10 thats right 10 in one of the cylinders and drove it to my cousins garage to pull the motor. when i pulled the piston the things fell apart in 3 pieces and it didnt even scar the block.

Re: (2000siturboR)
yeah im just gonna keep breaking the motor in because it stop smoking a bit. no more bluish color It might of been the oil on the rings and walls. etc. gonna get a new wheel bearing today and will post when i drive it again. I did notice that a few seconds maybe 15 to 25 seconds after start up it smoked a little bit of white smoke, now i dont have anti freeze just water and water wetter in the cooling system, the temp did go up a bit after awhile of having the engine on then i wired up my fan and the temp went down, i chenck the oil and it does not look like its mixing with water, gonna change the thermostat. and go on from there..
