Default Help on b16 block stamp

Are all b16a2 block stamps smaller then the b16 stamps? I was told I purchased a b16a2 block and the owner shaved the 2 off the end of the b16a2 ( vin was ran and its not stolen) It looks like the stamp on the b16a2 block I thought I bought is larger then on the b16a2 block I have with a bent rod. If it is a b16a block and not a b16a2 do I just need to swap over the oil pump for it to all work in my obd2 99 civic si?

Thanks

Ok, i'm somewhat confused. You think you bought a USDM B16A2, and the block says B16A, because the owner shaved off the 2? Ok, The only reason I could think of for shaving off the 2 is trying to sucker someone into thinking its a JDM engine, theres really no other reason to it, even if it was stolen it wouldn't help you. Either the guy really did shave the 2 or its a JDM B16A. Next point, you say you ran the VIN, JDM engines don't have a VIN, but they do have the holes to rivet the VIN tags on, maybe he put his tags on it. Next point, oil pump. JDM engines do not have a CKF sensor, USDM OBD2 engines do. If it has a CKF sensor (sensor mounted to the oil pump) its at the very least got a USDM B16A2 oil pump, or more likely its USDM B16A2.

why would this block I purchased have a larger stamp on it, compared to the b16a2 block that was removed from my car?

the guy I purchased the block from said the guy he bought the block from shaved off the 2 on the b16a2 so people thought it was a a "jdm" b16. There was no green vin tags on the block like my b16a2 came with, thats why I think it a b16a "jdm" block. Ill take a look to see if I did plug the ckf sensor in. Is that the sensor right behind the crank pully?

Different year? Different stamping equipment, any number of things really. The only other thing I can think of is if you were in highly enforced emissions state like california someone might have taken a B16A3 block and shaved the 3, put an OBD2 head on it and tried to pass it off as a newer OBD2 JDM B16A to pass bar, highly unlikely seeing as how you aren't in california.
