Help. 98 civic d16y5
Head gasket went out so we changed it. Got it all back together and started right up but now it has a bad miss fire and is blowing white smoke. What should I check or look at? This is a daily driver and I have only til Sunday to figure it out. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am thinking its a timing issue. And will be redoing the timing tomorrow. But any ideas would be appreciated. I am a American v8 guy myself and this is my brothers car but I am considering getting into the import scene. Thanks in advance.

White smoke is a headgasket so if its still smoking then the head or block isn't flat.
And make sure the car is timing and the ignition is on point. And no vaccum leaks.

Ok. The car quite smoking after about 20 min of running. But still has a miss. The codes I am getting are 0141,0300,0301,0302,0303. I will be changing the plugs today and checking timing with a light. Thank you all again for helping me figure this out.

Well I have changed the plugs wires cap rotor. Adjusted mechanical timing with a light it is at 12* btdc. The car starts right up cold or hot. But still has a slight miss. The secondary o2 is missing completely and the cel is still blinking so it must have a misfire right? I am confused by this as all but the distributor is new in the ignition system and I still have the same problem. Any advise
