Did it break or just come unscrewed off the latch? The plastic pieces I had would sometimes come unscrewed from people jacking with them and fall completely off leaving me no way to release the seat. So I got out a set of needle nose pliars, grabbed the metal release inside the hole and pulled it up. Hope thats the part you were talking about.

The side, where it meets the latch on the interior panel, can you fit something in there, to "pick the lock," or push it back so you can release the seat.

Yeah your best bet would be to get a set of thin needle nose pliars and try to get at it from behind the seat at an angle as Rodrez said. See if you can grab it and pull it up enough to use another set of needle nose and release the seat. Good luck!

Same thing happened to mine. Just pulled off the hatch carpet on the seat then used a needle nose to pop the latch. Good luck

No, the hatches don't have a locking rear seat like the coupes, just pull tabs to secure them.
