Default Gsr smokes in high rpms.

Ok ive posted about this before and ive done some work on my motor as in changed the Valve Seals and New Head gasket. But ive done a Compression Test and it was between +- 15 psi, I got Ctr Piston in my gsr so i got high compression and im worried if i really need a rebuild. And i bought a damn Leak Down Tester but it broke so now i dont know if its my rings and i dont wanna buy another one . Also ive been reading and i found this thread and i would like some one to explain the Catch can theory... If u would like to. Here's the thread on the same problem.

Both my JDM B16 and B18C1 smoked in the upper RPMs. Most hondas i know of do, as long as it is not a ridiculous amount i wouldn't be too worried.

Dude, it is your "OIL CONTROL RINGS"

Re-ring and there goes your little dilemma.

Yeah i was in piston ring denial with my old gsr. It smoked like all hell but ran like a champ so i was convinced it was valve seals or pcv valve or anything else besides rings. Guess what, it was the rings

it smokes, but does it "use" oil... if you fill your oil to the top line on the dipstick and drive it for 3k miles when you go to change it, is the level still within the 2 lines (assuming there are no leaks)? if you it is fine, VTEC engines smoke at high r's, especially if you have aftermarket exhaust, and even more if you don't have a cat. If it were a serious ring issue, it would smoke all the time, especially on startup and i dont mean a puff, it would really smoke.

Joe says "rock it til the wheels fall off" if it pukes then rebuild it.

My old motor didn't smoke at all when cold/during warm up. It didn't smoke at all until high rpm WOT. But you should have seen the cylinder walls and piston skirts. You should definitely look into .10 or .20 over on the bore. Might as well replace all the bearings while at it. Just make sure all tolerances are within spec

And the motor in your car now will probably hold out for a little while longer. Take it easy on the motor and invest some money wisely when choosing rings, bearings, seals, etc.

Seems like it wasn't done right the first time around, make this time the last time

Yea im saving cash is there a way i can bore it over .10 or .20 while the motor is in the car..? Cuz i was just gonna do the rebuild while it was still in the car but if i have to i will take the gsr out and get it done cuz i want to build a strong motor. and im going to do alot to it in the future and ill post what has been done to the motor from the previous owner.

Engine:
B18C1
Slight Port and Polished Head
CTR Exhaust Cam
Crower Intake Cam
Crower Valve Springs
Crower Retainers
AEM Cam Gears

DC Sports Short Ram Intake
No Name Front Strut Bar

there is not really a way to bore it over in the car correctly. And, from experience, it a helluva lot easier to just pull out the motor. Plus you cant replace the main bearings with it all in the car

ps, have you had the head off? If so, were the cylinder walls anything but 100% smooth?

Does your engine also bog at a certain RPM range? I used to have a GSR that smokes @ higher rpm. It bogs around 1.5-2.5K RPM range. It crapped out on me because of a bad head gasket leading to cylinder failure.
