Grinding and Hard Gas Pedal (throttle cable or pedal assembly?)
Ever since I've had my EJ the gas pedal has been hard to press.
It's almost sticky and creaky and it's incredibly difficult to drive (almost like everything is rusted... but it isn't) without riding the clutch.
Has anyone ever had a similar problem? The pedals seem fine and the throttle body is smooth....

I've kind of got the same problem, although not to your extent...it's like the throttle ratchets a little. Different setup, though (A/T). What I was planning to do was to disconnect the throttle cable at both ends and manually move the parts back and forth - it should be fairly easy to figure out what's sticking/nastified.
Manual says MP grease for the throttle cable end (presumably you pack it into the boot or just slather it on.) Although it doesn't clearly say, I think I would use white lithium grease rather than MP grease on the rollers/back - call it a personal choice.
I've used motorcycle cable lube on the throttle cable before too (not on a Honda, though). Get the adapter that fits over the end of the cable, then spray that sucker until the lube drips out the other end of the cable.
Oh, and don't use WD-40...doesn't last long.

yeah that seems similar in this case. i was just looking for a fix if anyone had it (that wasn't something in the pedal)

Unclip your throttle cable from the pedal. Pull the throttle cable and see if the noise persists. Put some force on the top of the gas pedal where the cable attaches and cycle it. Is it easy or hard to move? This will tell you what needs to be replaced.

It's your throttle cable.
It has a nylon or maybe teflon liner and the inner wire is also coated with nylon or teflon, eventually with age it deterioates inside, normally they are self lubricating, but if in the past someone lubricated it with anything like wd40 or oil it causes friction rather than lubricates it, then it gets jerky like you describe.
You might leanunder the dash and lube the pedal pivot points first, but I doubt that's your proberlem. You should remove it altogether, hang it up and drip liquid silicone spay lube (the clear stuff, not the grease stuff) till it drips out the other end. If this doesn't fix it, time to buy one of those expensive dealer parts.

I did try that a few months ago but nothing changed, but as far as the expensive parts my friend works at honda so the part hookup is nice.

(for my '97 LX, your part number is probably different.)
