shouldn't take more than a day, if that. It's a direct bolt in, the same way you take your blown motor out, you put it back in, just reverse the process. I believe a few members here have made threads on step by step instructions on how to do a swap. Good luck and have fun

it shouldn't take more than 4-5 hours if you do it with a friend. its pretty straight forward.

when i was putting in my d16y8 engine and tranny in my hatch me and my friend disconnected the engien and tranny out of the original car, and had my dad help us carry it over to my hatch (no skateboards here hehe), though it was one heavy ************. then me and my dad put it on a jack, stuck it underneath the car, and lifted it to the correct height for putting the mounts in.

correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt you have to jack up the front of the car REALLY high to roll a motor + trans out from under it or to put one in by rolling it under the car?

cement bricks and a 2ton jack are man's best friends..... kinda ghetto and time consuming, but it works....

someone give me a technical breakdown on how to swap a motor in and out of a car by rolling it under and out of the car. i would love to do this rather than rent or buy an engine hoist. when things are free, it is always the way to go!

were using 6x6 timbers and and 2x12's to get it up in the air. were starting to take it out after we change out all of the gaskets and stuff like that. we have it like a total of 3.5 ft up in the air in my garage rt now and it didnt cost me a dime to do it like that bc we got the wood from a finished construction site in my neighborhood. taking it out the bottom is suposedly easier bc u dont have to worry about slanting the engine while putting it in.

nm. the damn motor was bs. we made them take it back bc it was the head of one motor and the bottom end of another. and we wanted to see the car that the motor came out of and they wouldnt show us. which is how we found out that it came from two diff cars. they said it would be ok, but i was pissed and got my money back and so now im trying to find out if a zc swap would fit w/o new mounts and stuff like that.
