Default Got a del sol...

Okay I just bought it, I've posted before about this. Well 1 thing I was thinking about was how could I make this car a 12 second car like my WRX...okay well I bought the car with a b16a swap already in it, the 170hp one, it has Cable Tranny with Limited Slip Differential, Chipped p28 ECU 9000rpm rev limit and no speed limiter, Cold Air Intake, Tanabe Racing Medallion Exhaust, Tokico Illumina Full Coil over system, and some audio stuff...I was wondering, what should be a couple of mods to get me up there...and if the b16 can hold a good amount of boost or would the internals have to be changed...well thanks again...

oh and what should my upgrade path be?

You can boost the b16 and get to 12's eventually or you could yank that one out and get a b16c1 or c5 and get some internal work done. Either way, good luck, sols are heavy.

im hoping u meant b18c1 or c5 lol.

boost it and slowly upgrade your parts. u will hit 12s eventually. my boy went 13.2 on street tires with a stock b18c1 and boost. 6psi. the sol is kinda on the heavy side tho

Yes I meant b18c1 or c5. My girl has a jdm b16 in her sol and I walk her all day in my b18c1 hatch. I try to let her win so I get *** but she knows who's fastest. Anyways, the sol is a pig because of the targa top and honda having to include more metal to reinforce the chassis. IMO, drop a c1 in there, inline head gasket, boost 12lbs and you'll hit 12's with slicks.

Screw the B16 unless you plan on going turbo to reach 12's. If you want to go all-motor and hit 12's easy, go with an H22, or B18C5.

lol I am planning on boosting it, I've actually been talking to a few people that know somewhat about honda's and they all said boost it, but I was wondering if the internals could just hold a turbo, or would i have to upgrade some stuff, I know on the wrx I could just throw a bigger turbo, injectors and pump and get it tuned and it'd work fine, not worrying about the engine blowing. The main question I was asking, is what should I do to prepare the car, and what are the main things I should get done to add hp. I also hear that most bolt on's for the car add's little to no horsepower, but I have people telling me to get skunk2 intake manifold(some people say they are POS)and good headers like Toda, Hytech, SMSP, AN-R, Header Tech... oh and what do manufacturers do you recommend and which to stay away from?

if youre planning on boosting it i wouldnt get a header, you're gonna need to buy a turbo exhaust manifold anyway.

if i were you, id maybe take a look around in the Forced Induction forum on turbo advice, such as what turbo would be good for your motor, possible rebuild info, how much power to expect, etc. .... that forum would have more of the info you'd be looking for. Just search and you should find all the answers to your questions cause chances are, its been asked before. Another thing I would suggest is possibly PMing people who have turboed their del sols/b16s and asking them their thoughts/opinions on setups.... Just a thought!

But yea, if i were going to go turbo, i wouldnt waste my money on a header that I wont end up needing down the road.
