only if you go turbo but basic upgrades for a y7 sohc are
1. y8 intake manifold
2. y8/z6 vtec head
3. y8 tranny

other than that you're not going to get enough power unless you go turbo. and after you have turbo you will find out that it still doesn't have enough power so you should just get a swap

d16y7

106hp and 103 ft-lb tq somethin like that. Dont do anythin to it unless you wanna do a mini-me which would probably only get you to around 120hp. Great gas save tho. I'm rollin with one

Without starting a WAR on here about swap vs not swap, I'd say you have some decisions to make.

You can save the money of the intake and exhaust and go ahead and decide if you want to swap or go turbo. Just search to find comparisons and advantages/disadvantages of both. Keep in mind what a swap makes at the wheels and what a turbo makes at the wheels! If I were you, i would buy a y8 tranny and turbo that sucka! Stock blocks can take 10-12psi daily but it all depends on your fuel mangement. For more info, go to turbod16.com

Good Luck
