Default d16a6 turbo??

I am new to the whole turbo thing. I searched and could not find anything on d16a6 turbo'd only y8 and z6. I would like to know is there any turbo d16a6's or people only use z6 and y8 motors. I am wondering if there is any way i can get 200whp on the stock bottom end, if so what would i need to accomplish this. Thanks for your help.

Poeple with d16a6's say its the strongest usdm d16 bottomend, but I personally think they are trying to make up for the lack of power

People usually do z6/y8's because they usually go with obd1 for tuning, and its easier to start with a obd1 or obd2 motor for that conversion than obd0. It also lacks power low & high [theoreticly; that's an argument a6'ers like to oppose], and z6/y8's are always going to be a newer block (although not always more 'fresh').

Honestly, its usually easier to go with an obd1 car/motor from the begining when you jump into boost - MANY less problems you need to fight against.

I htink the only reason A6ers use this as an arguement because it has iron mains in the gurdle. The later 92+ D motors were all alloy. But there has YET to be any proof that the iron mains make ANY sort of difference. Asside from the iron mains, there's nothing else to suggest this.

Now IF I had a choide I would do the Z6 motor. There's more aftermarket parts for the Z6 "block" than the Y. for instance the oil pan. Moroso and several others make one for the Z6, but not for the Y blocks.

Also the Z6 head is the best flowing head on any D motor, thus using it as a base for a boosted setup only makes that much more sence.

the a6 pan and z6 pan are interchangeable though, i have a z6 on my a6, my buddy has my old a6 pan from my old kit on his z6.

stock for stock, i'd say the z6 is the best choice for turbo. i've boosted y8's. z6's, and many a6's, and they all take it well, but there is the rumors of y8's having oiling problems, etc.

i love my a6, w/ stock head, and rods/pistons. super fun/cheap setup.

a stock z6 makes a great platform for boost, but so does an a6.

I used the d16a6 for my 88 crx hf turbo project. Nice motor indeed, with the right turbo of course.

180 whp / 178 ft. trq @ 7 psi....was planning to go 12psi, aiming at 220whp+/215+ft. trq...but sold the car and got a new love.

ive had two STOCK 91 d16a6 engines, and one had iron caps, and the other had aluminum. dunno how the heck that happened.

im an A6 fan, keeping it real for the ODB0 guys and gals.
