Going From D16A6 to D16Z6 Harness Question
Hey guys. I need some help. I have been out of the loop with Hondas for awhile. My friend asked me to help him with his car. Its a 2000 Honda Civic EX.
Heres the problem. The original motor that should be in this car is not... The people before my friend decided to put in a D16A6. For whatever reason.
Needless to say the car runs bad. So we decided to swap motors to something a little newer and something with vtec. I found a deal on a complete D16z6, only thing missing is the engine harness.
Is there a way I can still use the Harness that was on this D16A6? I see that there are some things diffrent. Such as the altanator plug is diffrent on the engines, also the A6 has just a single plug for the distributor where this Z16 has two plug ins.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: Going From D16A6 to D16Z6 Harness Question
i dont care the EX came with a D16Y8 which is a VTEC motor his car is wired for VTEC unless they took out the VTEC engine harness. A y7 is a cheap replacemnet for the y8 since no one wants them. they probably blew the Y8 and put a Y7 in just to sell it. hell my buddy 98 EX he bough at a junkyard has a Y7 in it but 2 of my other freinds have a 99 and 00 EX both have D16Y8's in them

Re: Going From D16A6 to D16Z6 Harness Question
See guys.. this car was HACKED!!! It had D16A6 in it... Thats from like a late 80's early 90's civic.. I have no idea what harness this even is. It doesnt appear to have the hookups for vtec and such.
The harness hooks up fine to the A6 engine.. But like I said the dizzy, and the altenator are wrong for this newer d16z6
Any tips?

Re: Going From D16A6 to D16Z6 Harness Question
Well it looks like the Harness is for the car. But what im coming across is why does the Distributor from the A16 Work? The Z6 has tweo plug ins from the dizzy itself. Did they switch dizzys on the A16?
