Hey, I just got a 96 civic coupe hx 5-speed and I was wondering if anyone knows how much gallons the tank can hold?

I have no idea if this is relevant but I know that my '95 del sol si holds 11.9 gal (from the owner's manual) assuming they used approximately the same setup then its about that much probably...

my 95 dx holds right over 9 gallons from bone dry

Hmm, I'm hoping it's a bit over 10 gallons.
The HX model is made to be fuel economical right?

All Civic's hold 11 gallons according to honda but not ever tank is exactly 11, so it is going to very from tank to tank, so 10-12 is the safest answer. As far as what I think of the hx.. it's a good car, depends on what ur trying to do with it really.

kind of related question. Whats the most you've ever put in your tank at one time. My 93 Si's needle gets on E then i fill it all the way up till the pump clicks or fuel comes out the fuel filler pipe and have never put over 8.5 gallons in, this normal?

That's sounds right. That's about the most I've ever put into my hatch.

Your Si has a 10 gal tank, and there is about a gallon that can never be used (if you were to "run out" of fuel, there is really still about a gallon in the tank).

wrong...the only stock honda to come with a 10 gallon tank in 92-95 is the Cx... Dx,Lx,Vx,Si, come with 11.9 gallon tanks

Hmm, how many miles per gallon do you think the 96 HX can go for?
edmunds.com says 33mpg, is that accurate? I was hoping for more..

i say it just depends on how you drive. my girlfriend's old 92 Dx hatch automatic got anywhere from 34-37 with a record of 41 mpg.

Edit: it also has almost 235k on it, compression tested 190's across the board.

Ya you could get alot more than 33MPG if you take it slow. There is a guy on this forum with one on boost that gets 40 or 42MPG highway.

The gas tank is 11.9 Gallons according to the owners manual, but the most I've ever put in my car is 10.1 and it stalled in the gas station.

I have 97 HX, its not running that great because I'm having an low idle problem. I get around 37-38 mpg with the AC on all the time. The most I ever filled up at the gas station was 11.2 gallons.

hey I was wondering why my civic only holds about 7.5 gallons of gas?? I have to fill it up all the time I’m kinda concerned?

Is it dented?

Pull the back seat, open the cover for the fuel pump, remove the fuel pump and look in the tank. Is it full of sediment? It would take a LOT of sediment to use up that much space.

Are you sure you're using all the gas in the tank and not just filling up when you've still got 1/4 tank? How are you verifying that you aren't using all the gas in the tank?

Hey thanks for replying back my cluster reads about a quarter tank then it’s dry I thought I had a quarter tank but it was bone dry I ran out of gas on the side of the street😂 but It might be dented I’ll check it out thanks I’ll get back to you

When you pull the fuel pump out of the tank, make sure the pickup "sock" is still attached to the bottom. This can fall off the pump and not allow you to use the last 1/4 tank or so.
