FYI: EG Civic Automatics Difference between DX/LX vs EX automatic
I think this post is very well needed because in my transmission hunt I got alot of "they're all the same!" crap.
FYI for anyone who actually has an automatic eg civic (even if its just for the daily beater ) the transmissions do have different gear ratios/final drive or both, I'm not sure which since I've yet to find specs on the trannys. Anyway so my tranny died on my civic ex sedan bought what I thought to be an EX at but guess what the gears feel a hell of alot longer making my engine revv higher to go anywhere, thus making my poor sedan hellah slower than it was . Thats about it another interesting fact is they have different part numbers down at honda. As for the build quality I think they're the same except the DX/LX being geared for gas mileage while the EX is geared to use the VTEC to its maximum potential.
