Default EX and DX automatic transmissions: interchangeable in EKs?

Will the automatic transmission from an EX work in a DX if they're both EK?

Is there any difference between the two? Different gearing, etc? Is an EX tranny stronger?

What's going on with your transmission? How did it die?

my bro bottomed out the car (94 civic ex sedan) and after that the tranny would just go neutral after it was warmed up but when you shut off the car and turn it back on it'll work for a few min then the same thing.....tranny is already pulled though just waiting for a replacement and i dont wanna put a dx tranny in there if its too weak or it has different gearing that will mess with the d16z6

DX tranny has longer gears than EX. EX is the way to go, but do a manual conv if you can

Agreed. Will the longer gears have an adverse affect on a DX motor? Is the gearing made for a higher output motor? Will it rev the motor too high or something?

Finally a clear answer so the EX trans has shorter gears for the vtec then eh? and the DX has longer gears cause its pos right? so is that the only difference?
