when the swap was done the motor started up but had some back firing, the throttle response was slow and the car took a long time to pick up. so we thought it was the timing and so we rechecked the timing and it was off a teeth on the exhaust side. timing was then corrected and now the car does not start up. every part i used was oem to put the motor together (head set, timing belt). grounds were rewired and we added more. but now when we checked the spark plugs, you can smell the gasoline on it

there's spark, timing is right (manually cranked), distributor is also tdc. cant find a obd2a ecu to read check engine,

here's another question. i dont have a crank position sensor, i cant find anything on the 96 ex wire harness to match it up to the 99 si cps, are they different?
but there wasnt a problem before hand with the p28 starting the car.
