Default Fuel Gauge to Fuel Cell Sending Unit

I have a 15 gallon fuel cell in my Del Sol Trunk. I am trying to wire the fuel cell sending unit (0-90 ohm) to the Del Sol gauge cluster rather than use an external gauge. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or recommendations for setting this up?

It's just a circuit to ground. The more gas is in the tank, the lower the sender resistance and the higher the gauge needle goes. So you would hook one of the sender terminals to the wire going to the stock gauge, and the other to ground.

Thanks!

-Run 1 wire from sender to ground
-Run 1 wire from sender to yellow fuel gauge wire
-Hope it works.

Has anyone wired a fuel cell sending unit to their del sol fuel gauge, particularly a 0-90 ohm sender?

I think the gauge will read whatever the sender tells it, the only diff in your situation is that the ohms are different. Factory is like 7-120 , its some random number like that . You should be good with what you have.

Our cars use a 2-5ohm when full and 105-110ohm when empty.

GM uses 0hms when empty and 90ohms when full so theoretically your gauge will work backwards. I have yet to find an after market sending unit that works with our clusters.

If you feel courageous, you could rip into your sender unit and reverse the potentiometer connection.

Our senders are going to be like the following schematic, where less resistance the higher the float (fuller the tank):

I can't say I have any clue how the float and potentiometer are designed in our fuel tanks let alone your fuel cell. Might not be a readily modifiable part.

However if it is, it would literally just be changing which leg of the potentiometer is connected to the wire going to the gauge.

I would suggest you get the proper sending unit for your car, or use the stock one, pull it from your stock tank and install it on the fuel cell, that will most likely take some custom work. 94
