Default front speakers, coupe

I was wondering what kind of aftermarket speakers people are running in the doors with no modification. The slots are pretty shallow for good speakers with deep magnets. I bought some kickers and they would not fit unless I cut the **** out of the plastic which I didnt want to do so I returned them. I was hoping you all would have some suggestions for some good speakers with good over all sound .

my $50 a pair pioneer 6.5's have been sounding pretty good for the last 3 years, well as good as my JL's did with about 50watts going to each, I did have to make spacers for the JL's to fit though, which afterwords the covers wouldn't fit. Needless to say, i got tired of looking at my door panels with no speaker covers pretty fast. BTW, i'm also currently running a 2,000w amp to a single 12' sub and my mids are still clear.

id cut it. ive got some 260watt mtx's that wouldnt fit and i found the speakers more important than the inside of the door panel.

you would cut what? sound quality is very important too me also, but like i said, if you can get speakers that sound almost as good as competition for a fraction of the price & keep your covers, well, i'd go for what fits & sounds good. just my opinion tho.

he said he returned his speakers because the magnet was too big and wouldnt fit in the door panel unless he cut the panel to fit a bigger magnet. i had the same problem and decided to cut the panel. no one sees it anyway its covered by the speaker and the sound quality is just as good still.

The modification doesn't take long but check out crutchfield for shallow speakers and buy on amazon.

Crutchfield is great. I have Polk Audio DB650's and I love them. I've had them for 5 years (had them in my old Taurus first) and they still sound good. As I recall they fit with no modification but I may have had to drill the bracket the speakers mount to because the whole didn't line up? It's hard to remember.
