I just got a used Type R flywheel today, its like 3 lbs lighter than my stock one... I'm kinda disappointed in it but I'm going to use it anyways.

I've got the ACT HDSS clutch and a Fidanza flywheel. The only problem with me owning these things is that I don't have the money to put it in now. (Just lying around collecting dust -brand new)

Yes you do need a flywheel. In a 5 speed it helps the rpm's rev up alot more quickly. If you are saying that 5 spd's dont have flywheels you are wrong they do. Automatic's don't have flywheels they have Flexplates. But with a flywheel you lose a little of your low end torque but you gain acceleration through out the whole power band.

well I got my CM flywheel lik2 months ago along with action clutch... no lose of low end torque.. shoot.. I can apply even more torque down low..sometimes if I'm not careful I'll spin the tires at the light if I take off to hard.. b18b w/gsr tranny stock basically..so no problems.. just no 2nd gear for me but I have 4 other good ones =P

I guarantee you that you lost a little down low but probably cant tell it because you got a clutch and pressure plate also. So now you have more clamping pressure and it spins the tires easier. But I guarantee that if you put it on the Dyno and do it from a dead start that you lost a little down low torque from stock. Just for like the first 10-15 miles per hour after that you should be back up to normaL When you lighten the flywheel you lose some weight and when you get rid of that weight there is not as much momentum being spun behind the flywheel. Thus when the pressure plate engages and grabs a hold of the flywheel is slows the lighter flywhhel down more then it would if it grabbed the heavier flywheel.

huge difference.. and no problem going up the grape vine.. from L.A to bakersfield that's well over 6000ft straight up basically =P
accleration differences were very noticable in any gear..top speed well haven't tested it.. since it's not good to break 100mph =P
