Default Fluxuating idle problem...

96 civic 1.6l non vtec automatic, just bought the car with a known idle problem, thought it would be a vacuum line, its not, tried to clean the sensor that is on the intake which coolant flows through and tells the computer when to let the car idle down when its warmed up, what else is there??

try this, the fast idle thermo valve located on the underside of the throttle body has two sides, (you have to remove it). On the side facing the firewall(that's the side by the windshield) there's a plate which has two 8mm screws, remove them and there is white plastic nut(two slots hole in middle) see if its loose tighten it reassemble(that's usally the problem).

it slows the idle as the car warms up.

does this have a magnet on it which works with the temp or flow of coolant into the throttle body?

Either the fitv or iacv has owned you.

I said either.

So that narrows it down a little doesn't it?

If you want to test the fitv which more than likely it has one, if you look into the throttle body you will see two holes one high which is iac and one low which is fitv. while the car is idleing funny put your finger over the bottom hole and if the idle smoothes then replace the fitv which is located at the bottom of the tb.

Your not alone my firend. I had the same problem. My map sensor was bad. But i also took off that piece on the back of the intake manifold. (2 10mm bolts, and I forget what it is called) Clean that with some carb cleaner on the rag. (spray the rag then clean it, I wouldn't sugguest just spraying it in there) And that did it for me....

I just took all that **** off.

Throttle body and Iacv.

Dismounted the FITV from the TB. Cracked the FITV open, tightened and cleaned that huge plastic white screw thingy inside. Same with my IACV. There you go, done!

And if you still have an idle issue, it could be a vacuum leak, coolant leak, or [freak]ed up timing.

obviously you have not "searched" or "googled" how to take an fitv or iacv off and how to clean them.

I have a similar issue still after cleaning the IACV, and throttle body.
I have changed the fuel filter, cap, rotor, and spark plugs.
It would also stall after coming to a stop pressing in the clutch.

I don't have much vacuum lines connected to the manifold.
