Default flat tapped-Roller rockers?

i know on my a few D' serise SOHC motor that they come with roller rockers insted of the flat tapped, and i tryed to swap them but found no possable cams for them, but im swaping out for a B-motor, and noticed that there all flat tapped and not roller, is there anyone out there who makes rollers for b's since a roller would be able to open and close faster and able to be more presise then flat tapped??

im just wondering since im wanted to keep more HP for less internal friction and all...

sounds like you used to have a v8 or you hang around with v8 guys, either way its cool, FERREA makes a roller rocker kit for the honda b-series however it is only for extremely high output race motors that stay in high rpm's as it eliminates the VTEC function, i believe toda also has a kit. if you really want roller rockers and vtec together you only have one option: K swap!!

well yea, im kinda diverse in what ive drown up around and all so ive seen both, but why is that honda keeps going between each one and the other like, the D16Y5 Vtec-E motor, in the HX, its got a roller set up, while the more HP motor like the D16Y8 is a flat-tapped, if anything it should be the other way around, and also with the B's im not quite sure, but is there any b-motor that comes with rollers stock? ive havent seen or heird of them...

The Y5 has the same head casting as the Y8. I think the main difference between the two is the cut of the cams. (The Y5 being Vtec-E with an economy grind, the Y8 with true Vtec)

I think Bense was looking into getting a radical cam cut for the Y5 a while back b/c the roller rockers would accept one with a crazy profile.

There is one other SOHC with roller rockers. The D15Z1. It had tiny valves though.

As far as B series with stock roller rockers...I don't think any came with them.

Definately pretty interesting.

the big problem with the roller rockers, as mentioned before they remove VTEC and most of the time it is not worth the extra cost and lack of VTEC

have you considered a k series engine? they have roller rockers stock, but dont worry about the b not having them, plenty people made plenty power with the flat tapped set up, honda has a way of making things work really well together.

well i was just wondering since ive starting thinking about starting a new project.. and looking at the different D's (witch ive done before), B's and the new K's, and looking at the new castings and heads and everything, im thinking about doing a K motor, plus i was noticing the new D17 motor is roller, but the damn things wont fit on the older D16 motors and ****... so im just looking for at the different types and wondering whats up with the differeces and cam types and all... but if you could put on rollers on a B' head but keep the Vtec, the size of the lobs could be hella more powerfuler..

how much power do you want though? are you gonna go all motor or FI? if your giong FI it really dosent matter, theres guys making a thousand hp on the flat tapped set up. even if your going all motor the b-series all motor formula is known by everyone. you can still make big power without rollers.
