Fix-it ticket for "modified exhaust" in San Bruno, what to do?
I got pulled over a few hours ago and received a fix-it ticket for my exhaust. I drive a 2000 EBP Civic Si with a GReddy Evolution exhaust (it's basically stock besides the exhaust). The cop pretty much followed me for a few miles until I entered a quiet neighborhood up Sneath Lane (At night, around 11:30PM). I'm really surprised and a little pissed that I was pulled over because I've had that exhaust for over 3 years now, never received a ticket for anything (except parking tickets ), and drove through San Bruno several times with cops around and never getting hassled. This is just great .
But yeah, I was wondering if anyone (with a quiet, modified exhaust or similar to mines) dealt with this in that area and had to do the required procedure. Did you actually replace your exhaust back to the stock one, or let them check the modified one and actually have a decibel meter used, if they do use it or even check it at all. I thought my exhaust wasn't too loud to catch attention. Well in this case, I think the cop rolled down his window and waited until I made enough noise due to him taking forever to pull me over, or was it that it looked modified? No sound check, nothing. This bites. I don't really think it's worth fighting, unless you guys can prove otherwise, haha. If anyone can put some helpful info on this, please do. Thanks

CARB has nothing to do with decibel levels....you should get the rex to check your greddy exhaust. for volume anyways...most likely the cop was just being a &(^&%&(%

Even if it's CARB approved they can still ticket you for decibel level.

If you don't think your are over the limit, make an appointment with the Smog Ref. They also do sound testing, and can give you a certification for your exhaust. You show that to the court and get the ticket thrown out! You can only make an appoint with the Ref for the sound check if you got a exhaust ticket. Call em up!
