Final Drive on EK '99 Si
What is the final drive on the stock '99 Si transmission? I read up somehwere that it was 4.40:1. Can a few of you folks confirm?
Why: I picked up an OEM ITR LSD and wanted to make sure it's plug-and-play (relatively). If not, I'll pick up the matching pinion gear.
Thanks!

I thought EK was the chassis code for this body style?? I'm probably wrong (100 mistakes on a good day).
Anyone else care to confirm? <-- Not my ignorance, but final drive

Re: Final Drive on EK '99 Si (VTEC-DA)
crap, lets not get into chassis code arguments now. you guys know what he meant.. if you guys want to get technical, our USDM hatchbacks aren't EK's either.. you all know that.
anyways, 4.4 FD for most USDM b-series motors.

well then those who corrected them should correct THEMSELVES.
96-00 hatchback is NOT an EK.
and yes, thanks for posting 4.4 FD... again.

I appreciate the clearing up the chassis code! Now we can drop it
I'm puzzled now because the Helm service manual says 4.266 FD.
Well, there's a mountain of evidence that says it's 4.40, so I'm satisfied. Thanks for everyone's feedback!

BACK TO THE QUESTION...
searching the archived threads yields a two opposing beliefs...
1) the ITR LSD will drop right into a 99-00 Si B16 tranny, using your Si's Final drive ring gear.
2) you will need an ITR or GSR final drive ring gear (part that bolts to the LSD) because the center portion on your ring gear is smaller and will not fit over the beefy-large ITR LSD.
I dunno which is right yet, but I'll bet the Final drive ring gear in a 99-00 Si B16 tranny is the correct size to use with an ITR LSD. Seems the earlier JDM B16 trannies as well as DelSol B16 trannies are the ones that require the ITR/GSR ring gear.
Either way, your final drive is 4.4 and you can use the ITR LSD's bearings in your tranny as well.

The Helms used to say 4.26 (LS) and then they later issued a supplemental that said they were wrong and it is a 4.4 FD.
It is a 4.4.
Helms don't lie. They even said that made a typo. :D
Go to your local Honda dealer and ask to see the book. Most will let you w/o a hassle.
