I want to start my mods with the exhaust system. I want best bang for my buck. I want power and a low street legal sound (damn you california). Any suggestions wether it be manufactured or custom please give details or experience.

Just "magnaflow" wont help the noob much. Stock 98 cx, I would recommend 2.25" piping at most. Select a muffler that you like, for example a magnaflow muffler, and find a good exhaust shop to run you some piping from the cat back. This route, you will only spend a couple hundred bucks compared to a lot of systems that run 500+. Take that extra money and get an intake and a header.

If I go that route. Is a mandrel shop prefferable?

Very preferable if you have one in your area. The bending machine is very expensive so only one shop in my area has one. Crush bent doesnt flow as well, so get mandral if you can. It will cost a little more too.

The RSR GTII isnt that loud I love mine i dont care if its loud. all i care about is power and this exhaust kicks ***.

Is there a sound difference with the silencer? Do you have it with a silencer?

i got a greddy evo2 exhaust for the reason that it is street legal. But if money is a problem find a good muffler and get custom piping. But i am trying to stay legal. Damn cops all of them.
