Default Exhaust choices / decisions.....

Alright, this may sound funny but on my 99SI I don't want loud exhaust. I am more than happy with the stock exhaust but want the little performace boost the aftermarket exhaust would give. I was told that if I just had the piping replaced up the the stock muffler with bigger I would gain all the power the aftermarket stuff offers but still be quiet. Does anyone know if this is true or of any "performance" exhausts that appear and sound like stock?

I especially want it this way after I was pulled over this morning at 2:30 because the cop says he heard me leaving a parking lot. I showed him my exhaust is stock and did a small rev to 3k to show him it was quiet. I know he heard my intake and that is why I got pulled over but bottom line is he let me go.

i've heard that the Greddy SP exhaust is known for being not as loud as the other typical exhausts on the market

hey there twistedsi. i have heard some pretty good feedback with the dc sports twin cannister system. they claim that it meets the maximum decible level compliance (for whatever that's worth)? i own a 2002 ex and will probably purchase this system once my warranty expires. i too would like a quiet yet efficient performance exhaust. the cops don't concern me as much as being able to carry on a conversation with the person riding shotgun without having to shout at them. i had a stillen exhaust on my '95 altima. the sound was ok but it became extremely annoying after awhile, especially on long trips. i am also looking for a system that will provide good overall performance, not just above 5000 or 6000 rpm. after all, my car is the only daily driver that i own. as with all honda motors (with the exception of the h22/h23 perhaps) low end grunt cannot be sacrificed, in my opinion. an old issue of sportcompactcar showed the dyno results of a dc sports prepared rsx (header/dac/tcs setup). the results were pretty impressive for someone who would want to maintain reliability and overall streetability. i am hoping that this setup with the possible addition of the aem pulley kit will produce desirable reults. any feedback would be appreciated. good luck with the exhaust search and take care....luckynumbernine.

go turbo...then you'll have a really quiet exhaust. that or just get the greddy sp or something with a silencer.

I have that setup on my 92 VX with 99 B18C1, really nice tone and sleeper looks.

yeah, i think this is the best solution. all youll hear is psss from the blowoff valve. not to bite off someone else's post, but go ahead and get 2.5' piping also-its big for NA but itll do the job. i heard the es muffler wasnt loud-theyre like 100 bucks, right?

custom is the way id go..u can never get all u want with a *out of the box * cat. back..id opt. for the 2 1/4" piping using a 4" round muffler as a resonator..going back to a sleeper magnaflow with a 3" tip for that real sleeper /stock look, avoid stainless steal

and if u can find a shop..custom with mandrel

ive heard the mugen twinloop is a stock like sound but much better tone and helps in performance and throttle response and it's made by mugen but freakin expensive.

choices:
apexi world sport
custom piping with resonator and ES oval muffler
RS*R exhaust.

All of the above have oval, stock looking mufflers
