i been on here for a few months now, and i noticed some people talking good and bad about this mod! im talking about switching my oem d16z6 intake manifold for a d16y8 manifold. is this worth messing with? i would like to hear the pros and cons! plus if it is worth trying, i shouldnt have to do any extra mods with this, right?
like computer work etc.etc.etc.! im poor so thats why im bringing this up! lol

yes, it's good, there's nothing bad, or extra to do, just make sure you use a new manifold gasket, and make sure the new manifold is off of a manual car. also, the 99-00 mani is supposed to be better than the 96-98

Make sure you keep your OBD1 throttle body and sensors just in case the Y8 ones don't work out. Also, the Y8 manifold is going to give you more power up top at the expense of low end torque, just like moving from a GSR to a Type-R manifold. Personally, I wouldn't do it, but if you want to it won't really hurt anything.

I asked if anyone has dyno evedince of an increase in power from switchig to a Y8, and no one came forward, so I would stay away from this personally as it almost seems like a rumor. I have seen people stating that the Z6 Im is better than the Y8 & vice versa, so I'd stick w/ what you have. If money is an issue, why not save the Y8 $$$ and put it towards another mod?

A bigger throttle body will give you better throttle response and probably a bit more hp through the powerband, but it's not going to be a massive difference. Probably one of the better "cheap" mods though.
