ep3 seats in a eg, how to
whats up guys
I got these ep-3 seats for a good deal.
they are really comfortable seats.
I have not seen any good how to's on installing these.
most posts I've seen are asking how to do it and every body bitching about how high they sit.
ok here we go
i used tape to set a cut line in the side of the seat frame.
cleaned up the cuts with a flap disc.
the seat is a lot lighter after removing the rails and sliders.
removed the seat rails from the EG
one side only had two studs to cut off.
the other side had some spot welds and some thing like big rivets holding on a few bracket. sorry no before pic.
i will tell you i used up several cutting wheels during this job.
ground the tops of the rails smooth for a clean welding surface.
i then aligned the seat so it would be even with the stock seat still installed in the most back position.
sorry no pic of this process.
when i was happy with the position of the seat,
i put a couple tack welds on each side to hold the new seat to the stock rails with out moving.
i then took the seat over to the bench and laid some beads down.
i chose to weld the entire rail switching from front to back as to not warp the metal.
after the welds had cooled i sprayed them up with some gloss black and re installed the original ep3 plastic covers.
this is the passenger side fully installed.
i did not get any pics of them both installed before my customer picked up the car.
the seats were at about the same height as the stock eg seat.
way better seats than stock.
these looked really good in the red hatch.
i can update this with some after pics the next time my customer comes in

I mean, you could have just done a pan swap, but what you did works too. At least you put some effort into doing it well.
Also, we have the same angle grinder. Go us!

I have swaped a few s2k seats by using the stock pans and rails.
s2k seats are very similar to the eg and del sol seats.
ep3 and rsx seats are built way different.

You can still do a pan swap with them, though. I learned that while I was looking up seat options for my EJ6. Nothing wrong with the way you did it, though. You seem competent with a grinder and welder.
