Engine Temp Question
Ok, my car is doing this weird thing:
When i'm driving, the temp gauge stays down. But when it's at Idle, its starts to rise like a bitch... all the way the top.
What does this mean? Do I have a Bad thermostat? Should i flush the coolant?
I've also noticed that my idle is rough when i start my car and then after a 5 minute drive it goes away....
Help me out!
Thanks,

yea put a 50/50 mix of water and coolant in,..if that doesnt fix it,..change out the thermostat,..the thermostat could be staying close

Re: Engine Temp Question (b18tdelsol)
One possiblility may be your radiator fan. Is it kicking in at idle? If not, maybe it's not providing sufficient air flow pass your radiator. Your engine may not be overheating when you are driving because there will be air will flow through your radiator when your car is moving.

I had the same problem on my EG Civic ESi (Si). It turned out to be a faulty thermoswitch. Check to see if your fan comes on when the car is warmed up. If not, pull the connector of the thermoswitch (located in the thermostat housing on my car) and using a piece of wire, create a circuit in the connector, turn the key in the ignition until you get the dash lights on. Check to see if the fan is on. If so then you more that likely have to replace the thermoswitch.
