So I cleaned my engine with a hose, and now my car won't start. It cranks, the fuel pump works. Sometimes, it's starting but stalls right after. I left the hood open outside hoping it will dry, but it's been 2h and it's not starting yet. Any advices?

BTW, I checked if there was water in the spark plug holes, there's none. Air filter is a bit wet (nothing bad), so I removed it and even without it it's not starting. Throttle is dry.

Tried to start it again, but this time, it smelled gas quite bad. Clogged injectors?

It was working fine this morning, then I decided to wash the engine bay. Fukc my life.....

let it dry more . 2hrs is nothing. take out spark plugs and look inside. if no water. sensors are wet. check fuses

ok thanks, hope it will be alright soon! i checked the fuses, they're not wet (talking about the main relay here), i took the spark plug coils off and none were wet. what else can i do?

wipe all the water from everything. just let it dry. is there anyway the ecu got wet? undo the battery you could kill it if power is grouned while wet.....i did this once.
just let it dry

check the dizzy! this is usually what makes cars not start when the engine gets washed. i always cover it with plastic when i clean my engine

dizzy as in distributor? i opened it (took off the plastic cover) but cant go further because of the ''wheel'' blocking another cover. I tried to dry it with a dryer anyway. I took my coils and dried them in the oven. How can i take apart my distributor to dry it well?

by wheel do you mean rotor? i think so. anyways u shouldn't have to take off anymore than the distributor cap. just make sure all the contact points are dry in the cap and the tip of the rotor is dry, and everthing else in there

Yes i think it was the rotor. Anyway, i dried it, put my coils in the oven, try to start the car and it didn't. What am i doing wrong???

by coils do you mean the main coil going to the distributor or your spark plug wires?

no worries, do you have anything you can check for spark with, like a test light? because if you have fuel, than u know it has to be something ignition

I can hear my fuel pump working when the key is at ''on''. So yeah my problem must be the ignition. I'll try to find a check light in my dad's garage (he's out for business so can't ask him). How can I check if there's a spark? Do I have to take out my spark plugs?

just get a good ground for the test light and stick it in the end of the plug wire that attaches to the top of the spark plug. crank the motor and see if the light blinks on. make sure the test light is touching the metal inside the plug wire. if you don't have a test light you can always pull the plug. ground it to the block and see if you can see the spark jump the gap that way. you will need someone to crank the car for you to do these tests

how do i ground the plug wire to the block if the metal connector is like 2in inside the rubber?

you are going to have to take the spark plug itself out of the motor and ground that to the block while it is plugged into the plug wire. the metal piece on the bottom of the spark plug that goes into the motor is going to have to be grounded to the block

thanks a lot i never took spark plugs out, do i have to take certain precautions before pulling them out? whats the socket size (d16y7 engine)

no problem. nope just take it out and be very careful not to strip it when putting it back in. i don't remember the size off the top of my head but if you don't have a plug socket just try different deep sockets till you find a match
