eManage or something else... NEED ADVICE..
Ok ive got a 99 civic ex with b16 that i am building for all motor... I was wondering what would be the best/safest way to go about tuning the car and still keeping it to where i can pass emissions.??? Ive been looking at the Greddy eManage bc it is jus a piggy back system and i wouldnt have to jump down to obd1 in order to use it like i would if i went with hondata or something of the sort... any and all advice would be nice..

actually if you want some great power get an AEM EMS, but you gotta watch what kind of weather you tune it in cuz if its in the summer, it will idle really high til oil pressure comes down cuz of different ambient temps, its that exact!! lol

How do they test emissions in TN? Do they plug your car into the OBD2 scan tool to check for codes? If that is the case, then if I were you, I'd just switch out ecus when it's time to get tested.
I have a 99 EX, as well, but with a JDM GSR B18C OBD1 swap. I normally run the JDM OBD1 ecu w/ a jumper harness, but when I have to get tested, I switch out the ecu with a USDM OBD2a GSR ecu w/ a jumper harness. Since the JDM B18Cs don't have a crank fluctuation sensor, I bypass that sensor by doing this trick here:

In AZ, for OBD2 cars, they don't sniff the tail pipe. They just plug my car into the scan tool to check for OBD compliance and to scan it for codes. As long as it's a obd2 ecu and I'm not throwing any codes, I pass. I do have all my OBD2 sensors connected so I don't throw codes, except for the crank fluctuation sensor of course.
I don't think the AEM ems will allow you to pass emissions. The AEM ems is "for off-road use" only. However, I don't know that from personal experience. Maybe it does? But more likely it does not.
