EM1 misfire help
i have a friend with a 2000 si coupe/ stock b16/low 100k miles just recently developed a severe misfire in the third cylinder, the reason we know this is after checking all the plug wires (all other cylinders bog down when plug wire is removed), examining and replacing the plugs (the one from the third reeks of fuel), and replacing the distrib cap, along with trying a new plug wire on the third cylinder, we are confused as to what could be causing this cylinder to not fire. this is a well taken care of b16 with only 100k miles, should be nothin to this motor... we removed the valve cover thinking it was a crushed follower or broken spring, but everything seems fine, which leads us to believe he may have shattered a compression ring, but we do not have a cmpression tester, thats soon tho.thanx again this car has no mods and any help is greatly appreciated, thx. o yea at around 4k rpm it evens out and power is regained from the dead cylinderas if it were working like a diesel, firing under compression , and no, we dare not bring it into vtec in this condition in case you were wondering.....thanx again
