Default electrical charging problem

Ive got an interesting problem hope that some of you electrical gurus can help me out or know the answer. Got a 93 si tonight I started having charging problems. I noticed that the charge indicator light had come on. I took a look at my volt meter and noticed that the voltage was starting to rise to 14volts. At idle the charge light would dim go out. As engine speed increased so does the brightness of the indicator light. I put my dmm on the battery when I got home. the alt is putting out 13.5volts increase rpm and the voltage climes past 15v. I am almost positive the alt is bad but does anyone know if the indicator light will come on with over voltage? or have I missed something, like a ground problem?

Pull the alternator out and get it tested. Most likely that's the problem. If not, you had to pull it to get it tested anyway.
I've never heard of indicator lights coming on with too little voltage, but what would likely happen is you would blow a fuse or melt a wire.

I hope you had a typo the indicator light should come on if there is to little voltage. I just need to know if anyone has seen what mine is doing. Yes the alt is coming out to be tested but if it is something else it would be nice to know.

Okay problem solved. It was the altinator causing the problem. So to answer the question if an alt over charging will cause the charge light to come on, yes it will
