Electical Problems...d16z6

edit: (new question)
Is it possible for a bad alternator to stop the flow of electricity? So that even with a good battery no electricity would reach the headlights or the radio?

Okay, I'm currently away at school and my hunk of junk that i call a car is back home. Recently I recieved a call from my uncle, who drives the car from time to time, that something is wrong with my electrical system. He told me that the terminals looked pretty corroded so that was probobly the problem. Today I got a call and he told me that he changed the terminals for me and my car is still not getting any electrical power. I'm going home this weekend and I'm going to have a look but I was just wondering if there is any advice and help i can get before i go - just by listing the symptoms.
According to my uncle he says:
-It isnt the battery, he attached the terminals directly to his car battery and then checked basic electical units (the headlight, radio, etc.) They still did not work.
-Its probobly not any fuses because from what the can tell, the previous owner bypassed the fuses (?) - im not exactly sure what he meant by this. He said something about there being a fuse for the battery and it wasnt connected..
-The car is a 94 Civic Ex (d16z6)
Also, I was wondering if anyone could post a link or something to the Downloadable helms manual so i could look at it before i go home. (i do have it at home...)
edit: not looking for full blown or even good explainations, just good guesses on what i should be looking at... i was planning on changing my struts, wires, and plugs this weekend - dont wanna spend the whole day trying to figure out whats wrong...
