Default EK speedometer doesn't work after auto to manual swap

New to the site, not to get off the subject. I have d16y8 sohc v in a ek 4dr with a eg 5 speed tranny, will I ever get my speedometer to work? It was originally an automatik, I changed the cluster to a 5 speed cluster also

Does the tranny u put in have the right speed sensor and if your speedometer isn't working, you must have a cel right?

No speedo wouldn't necessarily throw a CEL.

OP, check your VSS, as well as the wiring running from the VSS to the cluster. I'm fairly sure the EG cluster into EJ chassis isn't a straight forward swap - I'm not sure if the wiring for the VSS actually lines up correctly.

If the speedometer isn't working..it could be a short behind the cluster but if its the speed sensor it throws a code 17..I just fixed mine last night.

I've tried several clusters. The vss I have is a two piece. I'm lookin for another vss to swap out and hopefully it'll work. I would hate to trace the wires. Does the vss differ between auto and manual?

ive heard auto and manual you can interchnge but i just changed mine with another manual one just to be safe. i have a gsr tranny and i used a b16 sensor and it worked fine. If I'm correct if that cel is for the speed sensor you shouldnt have vtec bc of that, not 100% on that though.

It was the middle prong broken on my the vss. Replaced it with another but still didn't work. Found a different and it work. Cel went off now my my car idles fine . Now jus wondering about my v-tech . I don't feel it kicking in. I jumped it with my battery and I hear it click on. I have a non V tech harness. I wired the solenoid, wired the oil pressure. Not sure where the knock sensor is. Under the intake mani?

I swapped from a CVT transmission to a regular 4 speed automatic and I'm having the same problem of my speedometer not working.

Pull the codes. Do you have code 17?

If you have any codes I bet you have one for VSS. Either that or you didnt wire it right or you are using the wrong VSS/a bad VSS. I have like 4 of them and the automatic ones are different and wont work in manual trannies.
