so my 00 civic si has had this squealling from underneath the car after i use the remote locks on the doors. actually, come to think of it, it does it at random times when i get out of the car too. one of my friends said his ek hatch did the same thing. so, that would sorta rule out the power lock idea since he doesn't have them.

anyways, does anyone else's civic do this and if so, have you figured out what is causing it? thanks.

And is it coming from the front or back?

it is a high pitched whine that lasts for like 3-5 seconds and then stops. it sounds like its coming from the middle of the car. so, i'm not really sure. by the time i can get under the car to listen, its stopped. and, its sporatic at best. sounds electronic, but i really have no idea.

1: did you or a prefesional shop install the door locks? or did they come stock
2: does it sound like your fule pump befor you turn on the car?

2000 Si comes with power locks from the factory, so no, i did not install power locks. and, my friends hatch with manual locks makes the same sound. i just recently discovered his car did the same thing, so i threw that idea out the window.

fuel pump isn't as loud as this. similar sound, but not the same.
