EJ D15, Overheatin + White Smoke + Low Idle. HELP!!!!!!
First of all i would like to say Hi, and this is a great forum which has helped me no end the past 6 months.
Right, i own a 1994 civc coupe lsi 1.5 (UK model), this is not my 1st civic as i previously owned a 1993 esi (d16).
Yesterday when i started my car it began to idle really low (between 0 and 500rpm) and sounded like the car wanted to die. The engine sounds like my classic beetle making a low bubling noise from the exhuast, the tempreture gauge for the radiator went right to the top. when i rev the car i get HUGE clouds of white smoke from the exhuast. I toped up the coolant in the radiator but the engine just seem to drink it.
I my intiall assumption is that the head gasket may need replacing but there is no white cream around my radiator cap or my oil cap, the oil within the head does not apear to have any coolant in it either. i replaced my oil, oil filter, spark plugs and HT lead yesterday.
Im sorry if i am askin stupid questions, i am a noob so please bear with me.
any help or advice would be much appriciated.

Headgaskets aren’t to bad to swap out for SOHC civic motors. About 6 hours of labour or so for me doing one at home. You have to buy the headgaskets and some new headstuds. I recommend ARP headstuds since they are cheap and readily available. If you have a cracked sleeve, then you will have to purchase a new motor. Good luck

Re: EJ D15, Overheatin + White Smoke + Low Idle. HELP!!!!!! (Dirtychb)
thanx for all your help dirtychb
i took the car to a garage 2day and they wanted £350 to put in a new headgasket (which i thought was takin the ****) i rang around everywhere and it was the same price.
so i decided to save my money and go for a B16A swap for £650 instead of £450 for a new d15 engine.
but thanks for your help once again.
