White smoke and rough idle on Civic
I just recently purchased a 94 Civic and it smokes a tiny bit of white smoke and wants to die while idling. There isn't any oil in the radiator or antifreeze in the oil that I can tell. It also idles very low at all times. I've never experienced the white smoke and I will be doing a compression test in a few days but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what might cause this and how do you adjust the idle? Thanks.

Very good advice! Also just FYI
Blueish white smoke= oil burning... You might want to take it to a reputable shop and have them do a compression check and cylinder leakdown test just to eliminate the possibility of piston rings/valve guides/seals/burnt valve(s). That will also give you a good idea of how strong the motor is before you start modding it and sinking in mass amounts of $$$

Re: White smoke and rough idle on Civic (B20VTECEG2)
i have this same problem. leak down test = 3% on all cylinders
compression = 210/200/195/210
car runs rough at idle, just as you say and i have white smoke out the exhaust. sometimes not much, sometimes alot. i get it when accelerating over 2500rpm and sometimes while decelerating.
i've noticed some oil in my vaccum lines that run from the back of the intake to the black box under the intake (GS-R). i'm tired now and can't remember the name of this part, but i remember it has a plug with two wires going to it.. i'm drawing a blank haha.. sorry.
anyway, i've been all over H-T and have had a thread up for weeks. still no answers

Re: White smoke and rough idle on Civic (kaj)
posting this 'cause everyone posts their problem, but never end the thread with an answer so the rest of us can learn
i put on a new oil return line for my turbo. no more smoke.
i remembered seeing liquid drip from my DP when unbolting it from the exhaust at the races. i also had some running down the DP where it bolts to the turbo.
all this clicked when i read another post on here about someone who had a kink in their return line forcing the oil out of a seal on the turbo and into the exhaust. DUH!
so, fixing the return line fixed my problem.. not sure if this applies to you. if so, do it SOON before you blow a seal.
keep the line as short as possible. be sure the line runs downward as much as possible; it works by gravity mostly.. and NO KINKS. hope this can help someone.. i've had this problem for MONTHS.
